Whenever there is a beginning, there is an end. It is not what came before or how things ended but what happened in between that makes life exciting - do not change the heartaches for they are colors in your own painting called My Life. Let them be vivid and bright!

Asia for a few days...

By Monday I will be in Asia for a few days ( more like a week) and trying to launch a business venture. My R, is so supportive of this. A special THANK YOU, MY LOVE - goes out to him.
I leave on Saturday, so as you can expect, I am trying to get my act together and pack and do some final paperwork preparation. It is never easy to go on any trip, let alone cross the Pacific for a business trip - my worst fear is to forget something. I have a list of things I need to accomplish before I leave - but lately I keep adding unto the list rather than crossing things in there. Well....
I have the essentials. Tickets, passport, $$, computer, camera, cell phone, ipod, makeup and my docs - and oh, the enthusiasm to make this work and the ever so helpful big smile. I think I pretty much have all I might need.
And what I have found out in all my travels is that no matter if you are there for 10 days or 20 days - you never really have enough time to cover everything you want to do, just like my list.
In a few weeks I will make good on my commitment to give life in Buenos Aires a shot. If you ask why I am leaving a place like the US to live in Buenos Aires, I have to direct you to one person and I mentioned him in the early part of this post. R!
If I am not able to post for the next few weeks after Saturday, rest assured I am fine. I am just trying to pave the way for a smooth transition to BsAs by going the long way and swinging by Asia. As I have been told numerous time, the way from point A to point B is not always a straight line and I find truth in that.
Well, ask me a question, if you have any. Maybe I can post something that you are interested in. I promise to take pictures during this trip and then I could let the few visitors that I have here to guess where I went - after all Asia is pretty big.
Ciao!

HELLO?!?!

It is 8am on a Sunday morning and I was rattled awake from sleep by a loud voice.
It has been extremely warm here in California for almost a week now and I decided to leave a window slightly open to get some cross ventilation in, and occasionally I get a breeze from the bay. It was a nice night last night, stars filled the sky and it was pleasantly cool as the breeze hit the drapes and the moonlight would filter inside my room. So I slept soundly...until this morning! ARGH!
A woman's voice, so ever loudly, talking about everything under the sun (and the sun was hardly up for an hour). She was speaking in Spanish about test results of her husbands, her sister's party at the park today, he son's lousy teacher, the recent encounter with a police, how her kitchen sink is leaking, again - all stuff that I would not care about - so SHUT UP already.
I am not pleasant at all in the mornings, so it took every nerve and self control in my being not to yell out the window for her to SHUT UP already! I ended up with a headache.
People who talk on their cell phone should keep it down. No need to share - coz I am sure I speak for the world here who cares less that you have to make a second appointment with your doctor coz your pee specimen was not enough and that the test results were inconclusive and the doctor is recommending a re-test. Who freakin' cares? Just keep your voice down will you. We are not interested. Really. And all these insane conversations people have on their cellphone, I care less if you talk on there for hours on end , just keep your cackling, shrieking, high pitched, ear piercing voice down. The fact that your sister's birthday at the park (Hell-o!) will need some more chairs - does not concern the rest of the residents of the condo. Your son's troubles, and your police and plumbing troubles - we do not care - just keep it down there will you.
Sometimes I really think that people speak so loud because they actually want other people to hear what they are talking about. It is a forced voyeurism. They want to attract attention and they use the cell phone to declare what is happening to their lives. Like we care? The rest of us have lives, and for those who don't do the same thing when they are on the phone. Right? Talking loudly when the gadget you have on your hand is especially designed to pickup the faintest sound, should indicate that NO SCREAMING NEEDED when speaking to the microphone of your cell phone. I am so irritated by being roused from sleep for any reason - let alone loud talking on a freakin' cell phone.
Some people can be so inconsiderate at times. These same people lack manners and yet they dress and walk around like they know Ms. Manners through and through. NOT! I am sure 98% of people with cell phone have not GOOGLED the ethics of using a cell phone (aka cellphone use 101).
It is considered ill mannered when people pick up their cell phones when it rings during dinner time - it is down right impolite. That is why we have voicemail - Hell-o! And if it was important, even very important, urgent and "I must take this call" - people shouldn't be calling YOU when it is an emergency they should call 9-1-1!Right?No exceptions.
Let me share a little anecdote - I gave my father my old cellphone because I thought he should have one in case of an emergency he can get a hold of one or all of us. In case of emergency - you see. We do not call him to ask him where he is, what is he doing and all that mundane pleasantries. The phone was given to him, so if he needs us he calls us. My father will not answer his phone, nor send text messages, nor check voicemail. Plain and simple - he said - it will serve me for what I want it to - I will not be a slave to it. All his grandchildren were there when he said this and to all the young ones' amazement - they knew he meant it- and that there they were each and every single grandchild has a phone even the 11 year old one; and they are a slave to their cell phones. It is a tragedy my father thought. But he is up and cool with the times and it is changing , he know that; he does not want to let life to pass him by any faster at this time in his life - waiting for his phone to ring. He has a life to live and since he likes his privacy so much - he still prefers the person to person conversation rather than over the phone. He says - before and after a conversation - I can give you a kiss, look you in the eye and show I care, not just say I care over the phone. Wise words. And he hates it, oh he so hates it when he gets disconnected.
Lesson is: People still have a lot ot learn about cell phone manners.
Conclusion: I just made myself a cup of coffee, sat, and started writing about it.
Request: Next time your cell phone vibrates or rings, and you pick it up make sure you speak softly and tell your friend across the table, to excuse you - as you step away- should you really have to take the call.
And when in the movies as soon as you get your ticket - turn that darn thing off!
Well it is another day....

I am a Piscean...

People who do not understand astrology make pretty biased judgements about those who do. But that is not what I am about to blog about today...I will share a vignette about me .

To be a Piscean (born under the sign of Pisces) you have to be born between February 20 to March 20. Pisces is a Sun sign. I personally get very well along with those born under the sign of Cancer, Scorpio an other Pisces. There is a high chance I would like Leos and Libras. I tend to not get so well along with Gemini, Sagittarius or a Virgo.
Most Pisces are known for being creative, imaginative, artistic, intuitive, compassionate, sensitive, kind and sympathetic . For me, I also am an idealist, vague and secretive. I also like order (most people call that - demanding - well...). Other Pisces I've known are weak-willed, easily persuaded, unworldly and selfless.
I tend to like my solitude (time to think alone) and I have discovered that anything I have in my past is most likely to remain in the past (so anything that I have dismissed or discarded will remain dismissed and discarded). I dislike know it all people and pedantry.
I exist 60 percent of the time on an emotional level and on 40 percent rational level. My instincts and gut feelings are big factors in my decision making, they have not failed me yet, ever. I practice my intellectual decision making capability on other matters but for those that are life, relationship and money - it is purely instinct all the way. I do not like the sense and being confined. I like to be free in spirit, thought and actions.
I am an example that not all Piscean are the same. I know of another Piscean that is uncharacteristically Pisces - having a strong sense of despair. When a person believes no one else in their inner circle share a particular doomed feeling they are prone to feeling alone and desperate. That is why I tend not to surround myself with that negative vibe because it is a downer. All my life I have been trying to develop my skill in being able to open up to those in my smallest inner circle. My hope is to inspire others and contribute to those who love me. I am learning to lighten up.
Other people born under the same sign: Sidney Poitier, Buffalo Bill Cody, Johnny Cash, H. Daumier, Cam. Flammarion, and Jackie Gleason, Joanne Woodward, Elizabeth Taylor.
Pisces rock!
I thought this was a fun blog to post today. I do most of my thinking when I am asleep and when I woke up this morning, I knew exactly what to blog about. I hope you had fun reading this as much as I had in writing it. Happy Stargazing!

A woman is desperate to have a man in your life when...

  • she needs a ring on your left ring finger to define herself as a woman
  • she laughs when he makes comments about how all women are bad drivers
  • he points a finger at her when things go wrong
  • she lets his philandering ways be explained away as just a "boys will be boys" thing
  • she does not say anything when he looks at other women when he is with her
  • she allows him to call her demeaning names
  • she settles for a lesser paying job because she does not want to earn more than he does
  • she think it is OK if he disrespects his mother
  • when he asks her not to think too much - she obeys
  • he tells her his friends are more important than anyone else
  • he asks her to just let him be himself but she has to change her ways
  • he sets the rules and she is just to follows
  • she hangs on to every word he says
  • she cries more than she cares to count
  • her friends keep asking her what does she see in this man

Are women really that desperate to have a man in their life to stand these kinds of demeaning and condescending behavior? It is sad when men think that women's empowerment and independent, self sufficient ways are a devil's work. These are men issues not women's issues. I am not here to dole out advise but you know what they say about when the cup runeth over...

I would not like to think that a young girl out there is considering settling for less and will resort to dumbing herself down just to get a good catch of a husband. I've recently heard of a friend who did this and now that she is racking on the years, gave up a career to be the Stepford wife, well, he and his wandering eyes are at it again.

Desperate Housewifes is a show on TV and it is a comedy - but I sure don't see anything funny about it when it comes to real life. Do you?

Things that make you go...There's truth to that...

. We drive in parkways and park in driveways.

. Why do people get pets and have other people walk them?

. Why do young boys call little girls "ugly" when they like them?

. When people say they are going to be honest with you, they are going to tell you a lie

. Why does cursing always involve a mention of some body part?

. Copycats, don't they want to be originals?

. People who do not take daily showers - it shows and they smell...what are they thinking?

. The secret of successful marriage - is just that- a secret.

. People who ask you for too many favors - is not a friend - he is an opportunist and that makes you a ...sucker.

. Women who walk around attracting attention - know exactly what they are doing.

. The best advise an arresting officer gives you - you have the right to remain silent - you should!

. People who say they have a sense of humor and are funny usually don't and aren't.

. Guys do not like it when a woman thinks - it can spell trouble.

. You go to the doctor when you are not feeling good, and the first thing they ask you is - "so, what is wrong"..hello!

. People who litter are ignorant. Action no thought = ignorance.

. I do not impose my choice of music to you - so please keep your music to yourself. No need to share. Thank you.

. People who say they are cultured - have just read and saw it - not actually lived it.

. Adjusting to any change is 99% mental and 1% physical.

. Someone said to me - THE END is just the beginning. And I totally get it.

. Forget the end result - enjoy the process and the journey in getting there. Now, that is living.

. Death comes soon enough, why should you kill yourself even sooner?

. Nobody can take care of you better than you, yourself, can. Best advise ever given to me.

. Expect some heavy showers once in awhile, you get to enjoy the sunshine better next time.

. I can lay on my Tagalog accent on my english when a teller marketer calls.

...more next time..

Is Chivalry Dead?

Is Chivalry really dead? A virtue this good should endure the test and abuse of time, no?
I am a woman and I seek for equality and I believe in women's liberation, but in my quest for this freedom do I have to be treated rudely, disrespected in the process. I do not think I have to give up one to enjoy the other. OK so I want it all, is that so wrong?
Chivalry (from the word chevalier - meaning horse - in reference to the knights) might have been started during the dark ages of middle ages, when men were ignorant in treating their ladies, brutal in their ways and crude in their manners but they started the knightly virtue of chivalry and it was great for the women then, right? Why can't we still have that in our men today?
What I am referring to is my own definition of chivalry is a man who RESPECTS the total woman ( body and mind), reciprocates admiration and still keep the equality.
As a mother I try to instill these virtue to my son, I am thinking if he opens the car door to a woman, says "no, thank you", Yes, Mr. Joe, holds the door open when a lady is set to walk in, and helps ladies with their overhead luggages and others, I am thinking I am raising myself a nice husband material. Someone that would make one woman happy one day. His mother in law will be proud of him one day. And I have done my duty as a woman - raise my son to be one woman's knight in shining armor.
So actually, I am not just complaining about how chivalry "might" be dead but I am trying to resusitate it by making sure I have in my care a young man that would be someone's hero someday.
Well for me, I have "R", my very own 21st century, modern day knight in shining armor and he is a self- made knight, complete with all the seven knightly virtues. We could only be so lucky, each one of us ladies, to get one of our own chivalrous knights in our lives. I wish you luck in life on that. And just to give it a little flavor, mine is from Argentina. Maybe that means something - or maybe not.
And I don't have to tell you, once you have been treated like The Ultimate "Lady" Diva, you never will settle for anyone or anything less.
