- she needs a ring on your left ring finger to define herself as a woman
- she laughs when he makes comments about how all women are bad drivers
- he points a finger at her when things go wrong
- she lets his philandering ways be explained away as just a "boys will be boys" thing
- she does not say anything when he looks at other women when he is with her
- she allows him to call her demeaning names
- she settles for a lesser paying job because she does not want to earn more than he does
- she think it is OK if he disrespects his mother
- when he asks her not to think too much - she obeys
- he tells her his friends are more important than anyone else
- he asks her to just let him be himself but she has to change her ways
- he sets the rules and she is just to follows
- she hangs on to every word he says
- she cries more than she cares to count
- her friends keep asking her what does she see in this man
Are women really that desperate to have a man in their life to stand these kinds of demeaning and condescending behavior? It is sad when men think that women's empowerment and independent, self sufficient ways are a devil's work. These are men issues not women's issues. I am not here to dole out advise but you know what they say about when the cup runeth over...
I would not like to think that a young girl out there is considering settling for less and will resort to dumbing herself down just to get a good catch of a husband. I've recently heard of a friend who did this and now that she is racking on the years, gave up a career to be the Stepford wife, well, he and his wandering eyes are at it again.
Desperate Housewifes is a show on TV and it is a comedy - but I sure don't see anything funny about it when it comes to real life. Do you?
